Editor’s note; Sponsorship of the show largely determined what cars appeared, Ford or GM. That it is not consistent, Ford from the start, then a switch to GM, is due to the fact that the shows were shot weeks, even months, before they were broadcast. To overcome early jitters about what would work and what not, as script adapters worked out elements of consistency from episode to episode, the shows were not broadcast in the order in which they were shot.

One may notice that all the cars in an episode, where under control of the producing team, are from the same manufacturer. Paul Drake drives a Thunderbird early on, then a Corvette when Mason switches from the Ford Skyliner with hard retractable top to a Cadillac.
